Payment of Tuition

Payment of tuition is required at the time of enrollment. Please make checks or money orders payable to Humanities and Sciences Academy. American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa are also accepted.

Returned Checks

A charge of $20 will be made for all returned checks. Should a student have checks dishonored on two or more occasions, the Academy reserves the right to require payment by cashier’s check, money order, or credit card.

Replacement of Course Materials

If a student loses any if his/her materials, they can be replaced under the following schedule:
Lost study guides replacement cost is $15.00 per study guide.

 

Course Substitutions

A student may request changing courses at no cost if:

1 . All applicable fees have been paid on the original course,

2 . The time to complete the course has not expired (twenty-four weeks)

3 . The original course materials are returned in an unused state (no marks, writing or
damage),

4 . The original course has not been revised or discontinued, and

5 . No exams have been submitted for grading.




 
 

Student Satisfaction Policy

If for any reason a student discontinues his/her studies, the Academy has established this liberal cancellation and refund policy for his/her protection. A student may terminate an enrollment at any time by notifying the Academy (preferably in writing).

If the Humanities and Sciences Academy is notified of cancellation within five (5) calendar days after midnight of the day on which the Course Enrollment Agreement is accepted, an applicant requesting cancellation in whatever manner within this time will be given a refund of all money to the Humanities and Sciences Academy.

From five (5) calendar days after midnight on the day on which the Course Enrollment Agreement is accepted and until the time the Academy receives the first completed lesson assignment from the student, upon cancellation, the Academy is entitled to a registration fee of $75.00 or 20% of tuition, whichever is higher, not to exceed $200.00.

After the Academy receives the first completed lesson assignment and until the student completes half of the courses, if the student requests cancellation, the school shall be entitled to the registration fee and charge which shall not exceed the following:

  1. Up to and including completion of the 10% of the course, 10% of the tuition after deducting the registration fee.
  2. After completing more the 10% if the course and up to and including completion of 25% of the course, 25% of the tuition after deduction the registration fee.
  3. After completing more than 25% of the course and up to and including completion of 50% of the course, 50% of the tuition after deducting the registration fee.

If the student completes more than half of the course, the Academy shall be entitled to retain the total course tuition.

 
 


Federal Trade Commission Cancellation Notice

The applicant may cancel this contract and receive a full refund of all monies paid to date if cancellation is made in writing to the Registrar and mailed/delivered to the Academy at the address stated herein within five (5) business days after the date of signature.


Holder in Due Course Statement
Any holder of this consumer credit contract is subject to all claims and defenses which the debtor could assert against the seller of goods or services obtained pursuant hereto or with the proceeds hereof. Recovery hereunder by the debtor shall not exceed amounts paid by the debtor. (FTC Rule effective 5-14-76.)


Financial Aid

The Academy does not offer financial assistance. However, students are encouraged to explore the following avenues of financial assistance:

1. Employer tuition reimbursement programs.

2. State, County, or City education assistance programs.

3. Private education assistance programs.
