The standards of the
mathematics courses include developing a conceptual understanding of complex
numbers; demonstrating facility with operations in the complex number system;
testing hypotheses
using appropriate statistics; explaining and applying the general principle
of a random variable to generate or interpret probability distributions;
applying curve fitting to make predictions from data; using matrices to
solve linear equations; solving and graphing trigonometric equations; deducing
properties of figures using vectors; applying transformations, coordinates,
and vectors in problem solving; representing and solving problems using
linear programming and difference equations;
and constructing proofs for mathematical assertions. Reading and writing
standards are incorporated into mathematics courses.
