Electives: Advanced Placement Courses:

The Humanities and Sciences Academy offers Advanced Placement courses in all disciplines for which the College Board provides Advanced Placement examinations. The student may select those courses that best meet his or her goals and the requirements of the college or university of his or her choice. In addition to presenting a rigorous course of study, an Advanced Placement course will follow the College Board guidelines to prepare students to successfully take the college Board Advanced Placement exam in that subject area. A successful score on the exam can award the student with up to five college credits in that subject.

In addition to offering Advanced Placement courses, the Academy offers many courses, which include preparation for the CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) examinations. The College-Level Examination Program is designed for students who wish to bypass certain college courses and earn credit by passing an examination. Similarly, in many courses, students have the opportunity to prepare for the SAT I (Scholastic Aptitude Test I), the various SAT II’s (Scholastic Aptitude Subject Tests), and the ACT (American College Testing) test.
